Why Choose us?
We take pride in the fact that you can get a quote online for your home insurance in less than 60 seconds! Once you have purchased your policy, cover is instantaneous from your chosen inception date.
Our policy will cover building types that include: town houses, bungalows, purpose built blocks of flats, houses converted into flats and maisonettes. Where a house is converted into multiple flats, and each flat is Owner Occupied, we can insure the whole building and make sure all the parties legally responsible for the properties are named on the policy, if so required. Got lodgers staying with you? No problem! Be sure to tell us and we will note it on the policy! We can insure properties that are owned outright, are part mortgaged or fully mortgaged and we will always ask if there are any other interested parties to be noted on the policy.
PriceWe will always try to provide a competitive quote, and are so confident that we will guarantee to beat your insurance renewal price.*
NOTHING TO LOSE! WHY NOT GIVE US A TRY?
Why not 'go- green' and receive your policy documents electronically? If needed, we will send them by post as well – at no extra cost!
We are happy to help you send documents to solicitors or interested parties, if you instruct us to, as we know that sometimes you might need to do this for legal reasons or when you are purchasing a new property.

- Policy Reference number from your certificate

- Claim information/description
- Date of loss
- Approximate cost to repair/replace damaged items involved.
Please note that you must submit your claim as soon as possible, but in any event within 30 days from the date of the incident of the claimed peril. Or fax it to 0208 847 8007
How much should I insure my home for?
Our home insurance is based on the rebuild value of your home, i.e. the total amount it would cost to build your home from the ground up – and not the market value. If you are unsure about the cost, it is advisable to get a surveyor in or you can visit www.bcis.co.uk and you will find advice on how to calculate the value.
How much should I insure my contents for?
This will depend on the amount of contents you have at the property, however you should take into account how much it would cost to replace the items you are insuring. Our maximum sum insured on contents is £60,000, with added optional cover for Personal Possessions of up to 25% of the total contents sum insured also available.
When making the decision on what level of contents insurance you require, you should take into account how much the items would cost at current market value.
Should I itemise my contents when taking out this insurance?
Not necessarily, but certain items may have limits attached, for instance there is a claim limit of 5% of the contents sum insured for any one valuable and a third of the contents sum insured for any one claim for valuables, check your Policy Wording for full terms and conditions. You may be asked to produce proof of purchase or ownership for any valuables insured.
Are my bath, toilet and sink covered within buildings insurance?
Yes. All fixtures such as baths, sinks & toilets are insured under Buildings.
Am I insured for accidental damage?
Accidental damage is an opt-in option, so if you have chosen it, you will be fully covered for any unforeseen accidental damage that might occur to your property.
Do you offer New for Old cover?
Yes, our let property insurance is on a New for Old basis.
What are my options to pay for my policy?
We accept the following: BACS payment, Direct Debit, Credit or Debit Cards or Cheques.
What does "Is the property used for business purposes" mean?
This is asking whether a business is operating from the property to be insured, such as a hairdressing service being offered from the premises. Clerical work, where no registered business is present and no outside parties are involved is not classified as business use.
Would you charge an administration fee if I sold my property and wanted to transfer my policy to my new address?
We cannot transfer Home insurance policies, however, as long as you were staying with us, we would cancel your old policy and set up a new one without charging a cancellation fee. We may also be able to offer the option to pro rata your new policy to coincide with your original expiry date or set up a new 12 month policy.
Should I tell you if I am having some work/renovations carried out at my home?
Yes, any renovations should be noted on your policy, so you should inform us as soon as possible. If the renovations require you and your family to move out of the property for the duration, we can still offer you insurance, with some limitations. We will remind you to make sure that regardless of whether you move out or stay in, during the renovations, please make sure that the property is made secure at all times.
How long will I have to wait for my policy documents to be sent to me by post?
We put your documents in the post within 24 hours of receiving the quote so please allow between 2 to 3 days for the documents to arrive to your home address as that's our standard time.
What currencies are accepted as payment?
Please note, that Discount Insurance can only accept payment in pounds sterling (£).
What is your cancellation policy
We hope you are completely delighted with your policy; however if you decide you do wish to cancel it, please contact us immediately. You must do this in writing to either email@example.com or Discount Insurance, The Business Exchange, 26/28 Hammersmith Grove, London, W6 7BA.
You have 14 days from the start of your policy, or from the day you receive your documents, to decide if this product meets your needs. If you choose to cancel this policy within this period, and no claim has been made, we will refund the policy, charging you only for time on cover. Cancellations made after 14 days of the start date will be subject to cancellation fee of up to £35. We will also retain a pro-rata premium for time on cover. For instance, if you paid £200 for a policy and cancelled this half-way you will be entitled to a refund of £100 for the unexpired portion of the policy less the cancellation fee of £35 (total refund in this instance would be £65). Please note any administration fees charged for policy set up are non-refundable if cancelled after the 14 days cooling off period.
